Assurance Senior Associate

Clearhouse LLP is looking for an initiative-taking Senior Associate to join our Assurance team. You will have the opportunity to work as a team member on diverse client engagements, while also acting as in-charge supervisor to junior Assurance staff members.  Clearhouse LLP Assurance professionals help companies improve their performance through the most challenging business cycles. Prior experience with financial services and IFRS is preferred.


  • Applies technical skills in areas such as: audit, reviews, special reports, advisory and tax
  • Applies apply knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE) and Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS)
  • Manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Assess risks and evaluate the client’s internal control structure
  • Perform substantive tests and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues
  • Assess appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, long term debt and leases
  • Review, investigate and address discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts, and highlights
  • Collaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts
  • Develop an understanding of the Clearhouse LLP audit and review engagement approach and tools
  • Contribute to the development of innovative ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using Clearhouse LLP internal programs and systems
  • Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating audits of complex financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables
  • Supervise staff on engagement teams and function as an in-charge, monitoring and reporting regarding productivity and adherence to work plan and budget
  • Anticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they arise
  • Interact with clients to help ensure the information flow from client to audit team and vice versa is efficient
  • Identify and communicate significant accounting and auditing matters to manager/senior manager and partner on engagement
  • Manage time appropriately across multiple projects
  • Keep abreast of industry developments by reading trade publications and other relevant thought leadership
  • Ensure professional development through ongoing education


  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree or equivalent degree from an accredited university
  • 2 years of current or recent experience in a public accounting environment
  • Understanding of audit services with knowledge of GAAP and GAAS
  • CPA designation or demonstrated progress towards obtaining CPA designation, including required CPA PEP courses from CPA Canada
  • Prior experience working with financial services audits and IFRS
