Intermediate Accountant


Clearhouse LLP is looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our Assurance team. You will have the opportunity to work as a team member on diverse client engagements.  Clearhouse LLP Assurance professionals help companies improve their performance through the most challenging business cycles.

Prior experience with financial services and IFRS is preferred.


  • Applies technical skills in areas such as: audit, reviews, special reports, advisory and tax
  • Applies apply knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE) and Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS)
  • Manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Assess risks and evaluate the client’s internal control structure
  • Perform substantive tests and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues
  • Assess appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, long term debt and leases
  • Review, investigate and address discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts, and highlights
  • Collaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts
  • Develop an understanding of the Clearhouse LLP audit and review engagement approach and tools
  • Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating audits of complex financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables
  • Anticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they arise
  • Identify and communicate significant accounting and auditing matters to senior associate/manager/senior manager and partner on engagement
  • Manage time appropriately across multiple projects
  • Ensure professional development through ongoing education


  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree or equivalent degree from an accredited university
  • A minimum of 1 year of current or recent experience in a public accounting environment
  • Understanding of audit services with knowledge of GAAP and GAAS
  • CPA designation or demonstrated progress towards obtaining CPA designation, including required CPA PEP courses from CPA Canada
  • Prior experience working with financial services audits and IFRS
