Role
- Principal focus on various tax and compliance engagements
- Responsibilities:
- Preparation and review of personal, corporate and trust income tax returns along with other tax elections
- Assist with corporate reorganizations, estate planning, cross-border transactions and other tax planning initiatives Preparation of all work papers to support income tax return filings
- Assisting with government tax audits including analytical support, collection of information, preparation of responses and dealing directly with auditors
- Providing ongoing technical support, coaching and mentoring for the professional development of junior staff
- Assisting with the management of intermediate and junior staff
- Correspond with clients and various government agencies to address tax compliance issues
- Working closely with partners and other senior staff to develop and implement effective strategies and tax planning assignments for clients
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
- Establish relationships with clients and gain a solid understanding of their business
- Play a key role in managing the processes and procedures during tax season
- Build positive working relationships with clients and firm contacts

Successful candidates
- 24 + months accounting experience
- Working towards CPA designation
- Working knowledge of CaseWare, QuickBooks and TaxPrep/Profile
- Ability to complete engagements with limited supervision; support junior associates and co-ops; coordinate directly with clients and report to senior associates and managers
- Strong understanding of a client-focused environment; including the ability to work to meet deadlines and manage concurrent engagements
- Ability to identify and resolve engagement issues
- Ability to develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with clients, co-workers, and other firm contacts
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
